Provide gen-sets in all PPVs to prevent blackout – PSB man

Lau Pang Heng

KUCHING (June 15): Relevant authorities should have been better prepared to prevent a blackout from happening at Stadium Perpaduan Covid-19 vaccination centre (PPV) yesterday, said Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) Kota Sentosa representative Datuk Lau Pang Heng.

He thus urged the authorities to provide standby gen-sets in all PPVs and government health clinics so that there will be no more blackouts in future.

“I received calls from many residents in Kota Sentosa areas that they were disappointed with the Stadium Perpaduan blackout. They sweated while patiently waiting to get the vaccination,” he added in a statement yesterday.

At the same time, Lau urged the authorities to respond to the peoples’ urgency and eagerness to get the vaccination against coronavirus by providing every vaccination centre, clinics and private hospitals extra vaccines daily so that anyone who walks in can receive their vaccination.

He was responding to an earlier announcement by the government that the rural population can walk into any vaccination centre to get vaccinated.

He observed yesterday at one of the vaccination centres that many were turned back as they were told there was not enough vaccine at the centre.

“Covid-19 concerns everyone and in the past two days, I have visited PPVs and health clinics where vaccination against coronavirus was going on and I could feel the eagerness and urgency of everyone there to be vaccinated,” he said.

Apart from that, Lau also urged the authority to provide a daily vaccination report by age group, cities and towns to enable members of the public to encourage those who are yet to register for vaccination to do so immediately.
