MIRI (June 12): The Federation of Miri Division Chinese Associations president Datuk David Goh has commended the initiative by ‘Kita Jaga Miri’ in extending the molecular lab project of Miri Hospital.
He regarded such undertaking as the best example of how the young people are taking lead in making a difference in society.
According to him, the ‘Kita Jaga Miri’ is a platform comprising members of the federation’s youth wing, Rotary Club of Miri Oil Town, Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers Association (Sheda) Miri and Advocates Association of Sarawak Miri (AAS Miri).
“They are the young people with passion in bringing good deeds to the local community.
“Their joint effort has not only gained support from the corporate firms, but they have also become leading examples to other youngsters.
“Any charity effort is not measured solely by the amount of money donated, but the effort itself, regardless of being big or small, is the one that matters.
“The Covid-19 pandemic has affected everyone’s life, but in a way, it also brings out the goodness in humans,” he added.
On a similar matter, Goh said the emergency relief fund set up by the federation last year, had since been channelled to healthcare personnel, schools and families in need.
“The fund has been used to purchase hand sanitisers, face masks and food aid for the needy groups,” he added.
Back on Miri Hospital’s molecular lab project, Goh said it should help expedite the delivery of swab-test samples, and also help manage the Covid-19 situation in this division.
