KOTA KINABALU: A 34-year-old woman entrepreneur was detained at a condominium at Jalan Lintas here on Sunday for investigation into suspected criminal intimidation against police at a roadblock recently.
City police chief ACP Mohd Zaidi Abdullah said the woman would be investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code.
She had been remanded for two days from today.
“Preliminary investigation found that Wawa (the suspect’s nickname) had provoked by issuing abusive words to police personnel working at the roadblock at Jalan Kepayan on June 1 after they informed her about her outstanding summons as well as expired road tax and insurance offences,” said Zaidi.
He said the allegation by the suspect that she had to wait 30 minutes before getting the summons and getting insinuations from the police is not true.
“The real cause will only be known after the investigation is completed,” he said at a press conference.
The suspect was shown on a viral video scolding police at the road block after she was summoned for driving a Toyota Harrier with expired road tax and insurance.
She claimed that she was made to wait for 30 minutes and can be heard on the video telling the policeman on the etiquette to treat a woman.
Netizens have ridiculed and criticised her action, and called on the police to take further action against her.
