Not only do we get to hear banging new music from the gorgeously talented Dua Lipa, we also see an old name pop up again: 18-year-old Ruel of Painkiller fame.

Also making a comeback is ILY (I Love You Baby) artist Surf Mesa, accompanied by the velvety vocals of Madison Beer as well as Stephanie Poetri, following up on her I Love you 3000 hit with a track that hits close to home.

Plus, Pink Sweat$ finally drops his long-awaited album, Pink Planet, accompanied by a beautifully crafted music video that’s ‘out of this world’. And last, but not least, the Taylor Swift, who is reintroducing her song Love Story, all on her own terms.

1. We’re Good – Dua Lipa

Introducing: Future Nostalgia (The Moonlight Edition), the extended version of Dua Lipa’s hit second album. To mark its drop, Dua Lipa has released a music video for one of the three new songs featured, titled We’re Good.

Speaking to Zane Lowe (on Apple Music), the 25-year-old said the track was “the riskiest”.

“I don’t even know what it is. It’s like pop with a little bit of a trap beat. It’s got an interesting Bossa Nova style.”

As for what the song means, Dua Lipa says: “It’s having that amicable breakup that I think everybody kind of wants. It’s like that clean break isn’t lacking, move on. We’re good. You can’t be upset if I move on. I can’t be upset if you move on. You know what I mean? And I think a lot of the time it’s that part of a breakup that – It gets lost in translation.”

The Moonlight Edition also includes the new singles Not My Problem with JID and If It Ain’t Me. It will also bring together some of the stray songs Dua Lipa’s put out over the last few months, including collaborations with Miley Cyrus and Angèle, as well as That Kind Of Woman, which made its appearance in remixed form on Club Future Nostalgia.

2. too many feelings – Ruel

British-Australian singer and songwriter Ruel Vincent van Dijk is back with his first track of 2021.

On a TikTok livestream, the 18-year-old shared his feelings about the song’s release: “I’m so excited for this to come out, I wrote it like … almost two years ago I’d say. Maybe like the start of 2019, I think I might have written this one. It doesn’t feel like it would fit on any of my previous EP’s, like sonically, but I think it’s another kind of step in a cool little direction.”

The first track since his 2020 Bright Lights, Red Eyes EP, the song explores the regrets following a breakup, with the lyrics:

“I let out too many feelings, sh#t I should’ve kept in

Probably should’ve left them all unsaid”

3. Heaven – Pink Sweat$

After dropping the remix of At My Worst with Kelani, Pink Sweat$, born David Bowden, is ready to bring us to Pink Planet, the world he has created with his music for his debut album.

Bringing Pink Planet to life in his latest track, Heaven, the 28-year-old soulfully sings about finding heaven in spending time with his lover. The accompanying visuals see Bowden strolling through a pink field as he croons:

“You know that I don’t want no one else

I put my pride aside

I traded this whole life

Just for one night”

Pink Planets follows the R&B singer’s July EP, The Prelude – a six-track project serving as the prequel to this album.

Pink Planets drops today, 12 February.

4. Carried Away – Surf Mesa, Madison Beer

After gaining fame for his single ILY (I Love You Baby), Seattle-born electronic musician Powell Aguirre, better known as Surf Mesa, has teamed up with Hurts Like Hell singer Madison Beer for this soft, catchy, TikTok banger that sees her repeat, “I love to love”.

Meanwhile, Beer is gearing up to release her debut album, Life Support, set to drop later on this month on 26 February.

On the album, Beer shared: “With my album, I made a promise to myself that this is going to be my time to express honestly and truthfully how I’ve been feeling. I could finally tell my story the way I wanted to tell it and touch on things like medications that are harmful for young adults that I’ve been put on, and real sh#t I’ve never been able to talk about.”

5. IRL – Stephanie Poetri

Celebrating “family and loved ones, fans & my friends”, I Love You 3000 singer Stephanie Poetri is back with a new track and accompanying music video.

The video – entirely self-edited and produced – features clips from Poetri’s own archive, as she shared: “Thank you to every single person that made me smile and brought happiness into my life in the past year – there are so many people that I didn’t get to include in the video too, including all of you. Special thank you to everyone who let me celebrate you and let me include you in this video.”

IRL was preceded by Poetri’s January drop of How We Used To and December’s Selfish.

The tracks will be included in the 20-year-old’s upcoming EP, AM:PM.

6. Love Story (Taylor’s Version) – Taylor Swift

After years of battling for the rights to her own music (hah, S̶c̶o̶o̶t̶e̶r̶ ̶B̶r̶a̶u̶n̶’̶s̶ someone’s crying in a corner) Taylor Alison Swift will finally get to rerelease her music – on her own terms, exactly the way she wants to.

First up of the six albums, is her 2008 award-winning album Fearless. And from that album, Taylor has released the re-recorded version of one of the best-selling singles of all time: Love Story.

In an Instagram post, Swift shared: “I’m thrilled to tell you that my new version of Fearless (Taylor’s Version) is done and will be with you soon.”

Fans can preorder Fearless: Taylor’s Version on her website, with the albums set to be delivered on 9 April.
