KUCHING (June 18): The Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud completed his Covid-19 vaccination process at the Normah Specialist Medical Centre here last Saturday.
A statement issued by Astana Sarawak today said Taib had posted on his official Instagram to inform that he had received the first dose on May 17.
“Thank God, I received the second dose of Covid-19 vaccine last Saturday, June 12. Like everyone else, I was excited about my first dose appointment scheduled for May 17 under the Phase 2 (of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme),” he said.
Sharing his experience of the vaccination process, Taib said he was also under an observation period of 30 minutes to detect whether there were any side effects after being given the jab.
He said: “Everything went well and I did not experience any major side effects from the first and second doses.”
He also thanked the frontline personnel who have always dedicated themselves to fighting the Covid-19 pandemic, which seemed to get more challenging.
The Governor of Sarawak also called upon Sarawakians, who had not registered for vaccination to do so in order to see the state achieving a higher vaccination rate by August.
“We need to take good care of Sarawak and only through vaccination can we fight the war against Covid-19,” Taib added.
