MIRI (June 19): Sarawak transporter companies are reminded to submit their list drivers to the Ministry of Transport for Covid-19 vaccination arrangement before July 13 so that they would be allowed to enter Brunei Darussalam to deliver goods and services.
Minister of Transport Datuk Lee Kim Shin said to date, based on information provided by the Miri Lorry Owners Association, over 70 percent of its members have been vaccinated.
“I was told that the remaining 30 percent are in the midst of waiting for their turn to be vaccinate. As for other divisions, transporter companies are encouraged to get their drivers vaccinate as soon as possible so that they don’t meet with obstacles at the border.
“The names can be submitted to the Ministry of Transport. My ministry will pass it to Health Department (KKM) for arrangements for vaccination,” said Lee after witnessing a donation handover by Miri Lorry Owners Association to the Miri Hospital today.
Brunei’s government had, on May 31, issues a statement requiring all foreign-registered transporters, including those from Sarawak, to be vaccinated before being issued Cross-Country permits by Brunei.
The grace period given for foreign drivers to be vaccinated was till July 12, and the restriction will be effective from July 13 onwards.
