Sarawak police take precautionary measures after call to protest MCO implementation

KUCHING (June 30): The Sarawak police are taking precautionary measures following a call to protest the implementation of the nationwide Movement Control Order (MCO) at the designated areas throughout the state today.

The call was made public after a two minute videoclip claiming to be from “Anonymous” – an international hacker group titled Black Democracy was published on social media platforms recently.

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail when contacted today said as of 1pm, all of the targetted areas where the protests were supposed to be held were running normally.

“I would like to thank the people of Sarawak for complying with the standard operating procedures and did not participate in the protest,” said Aidi when contacted by Utusan Borneo today.

Among the targetted areas in Sarawak is the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) office compound.

A survey by Utusan Borneo Online at the EPF Kuching office compound from 11:15am to 12:15pm found that nothing out of the ordinary had occurred.

Also seen were several officers and police personnel who were there to monitor the EPF office area.

In the video, it was mentioned that protestors should wear black and gather in front of the designated areas to protest the implementation of the MCO.
