KUCHING (June 25): Saratok district changed into a Covid-19 red zone after 46 new cases were recorded in the past two weeks, said the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).
“This brings the total red zones in the state to 30, orange zone to three, yellow zone to six and one green zone,” said SDMC in a statement today.
The other red zones with a cumulative total of 8,152 cases are Simunjan, Tebedu, Matu, Julau, Lundu, Telang Usan, Song, Sebauh, Kabong, Bau, Meradong, Asajaya, Tanjung Manis, Tatau, Bukit Mabong, Sri Aman, Pakan, Kanowit, Selangau, Subis, Mukah, Sarikei, Samarahan, Serian, Kuching, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri and Sibu.
The orange zones are Dalat, Lubok Antu and Marudi with a total of 93 cases while the yellow zones are Beluru, Limbang, Betong, Pusa, Belaga and Lawas with a total of 56 cases.
Daro remains the sole green zone.
The Health Ministry categorises a district with no Covid-19 cases as a green zone, and over a two-week period, with one to 20 local transmission cases as yellow, 21 to 40 as orange and 41 and more as red.
Meanwhile, the police have issued 81 compounds with 26 in Kuching, Miri (26), Sibu (19), Bintulu (5), Mukah (2) and one each in Sarikei, Padawan and Meradong for violating the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP).
The top offence is for visiting entertainment outlets during the Movement Control Order (MCO) with 23, followed by being in public places after 10pm without valid reason (16), gathering more than two people and no physical distancing (14), not wearing face mask (10), dine-in (8), not scanning MySejahtera (3), operating premises that are not allowed to open (3), exiting Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) area (2), fishing in public (1) and travelling inter-district without permit (1).
One Indonesian man was arrested in Bintulu for not wearing face mask.
“The total number of compounds issued since the Movement Control Order was implemented in March 18, 2020 to date is 8,284,” said SDMC.
Similarly, the Local Government and Housing Ministry also issued a total of four compounds with three from the Miri City Council and one from the Padawan Municipal Council.
Two compounds are for not updating the attendance book or having an incomplete book while two others are for not wearing face mask.
This brings the total number of compounds issued since Feb 1 to date to 1,163.
SDMC also informed that six premises in Sarawak have been listed in the Health Ministry’s Hotspot Identification for Dynamic Engagement (HIDE) surveillance today.
Four premises are in Bintulu and one each in Betong and Sibu.
“The premises in Bintulu are New World Mart, CC Fresh Wholesale & Supermarket Sdn Bhd, MC Mart Sungai Plan and BBC Petrol Station. The other two premises were CCL Fresh & Mini Market Satria in Sibu and Medan Supermarket in Betong,” said the committee.
