SARIKEI (June 22): Sarikei District is expected to achieve herd immunity against Covid-19 well before the state’s target of August, according to Repok assemblyman Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii.

Huang said this is based on the fact that 29,059 or 83.7 per cent of Sarikei District folk registered under MySejahtera for Covid-19 vaccination have already received at least their first dose.

He said he hoped the Covid-19 Immunisation Programme would cover all 45,535 eligible residents in the district.

“Given that a total of 29,059 people have been vaccinated, there should be still about 10,830 eligible Sarikei District residents who have yet to register for vaccination,” he noted following a briefing by Sarikei Resident Felicia Tan Ya Hua today on the progress of Covid-19 vaccination at the civic centre.

Huang called on those yet to register for vaccination to do so through MySejahtera, district office, or health clinic as soon as possible to ensure their own safety as well as that of their families and the community in general.

Earlier, Huang handed over a donation of two vital signs monitors, two fans, and a printer to the Sarikei Civic Centre vaccination centre.
