Politician expected to face more charges

KOTA KINABALU: A politician who claimed trial at the Magistrate’s Court on Thursday to five counts of molesting two women, including an Unduk Ngadau (UN) contestant, is expected to face two more  charges.

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Hazani Ghazali said the two charges were under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation, and Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures in Infected Areas No. 2) Regulations 2021.

“Investigation papers have been submitted to the Attorney General’s Office for further action.

“Whether additional charges are filed will depend on the AG’s office,” he said on Friday.

Philip Among @ Daniel Dell Fidelis, 52, on Thursday pleaded not guilty to five charges of outraging the modesty of two women.

The businessman and a suspended member of Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR), was charged under Section 354 of the Penal Code.

On the first count, he was accused of molesting a woman at a living room of a premises at Asia City at 11pm on April 17.

On the second to the fifth counts, he was alleged to have molested the UN contestant at a studio at Asia City, inside a car, at the staircase beside a photo studio and at an office at Metrotown at 3.30pm, 9.45pm, 2pm and 10pm respectively on May 19.

He claimed trial to all the charges.
