SIBU (June 22): Police have arrested nine men to assist with the investigation of a brawl at a Sungai Merah supermarket yesterday around 4.30pm.
Sibu police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said seven of the men were remanded today for three days, while the other two were released.
“Initial investigation found the brawl erupted between two groups of people due to a debt issue,” he said in a media statement.
He added all the suspects were sent to Sibu Hospital for Covid-19 swab tests as well as to have their urine tested for drugs.
At least two persons suffered injuries in the fight.
