National Cyclist Azizulhasni Awang Brings Home A Silver In Men’s Keirin Final

National cycling champion Azizulhasni Awang, who earlier this morning stormed into the men’s keirin final, has won a silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games today, 8 August

The 33-year-old former keirin world champion, who finished first in the semifinal ahead of German Maximilian Levy and Dutchman Harrie Lavreysen, has given Malaysia its second medal at the Games.

Azizulhasni gave the performance of a lifetime in the men’s keirin final at the Izu Velodrome.

The race was won by Jason Kenny of Britain

Dutchman Harrie Lavreysen rounded up the top three to take bronze.

Nicknamed “The Pocket Rocketman”, he had previously won a bronze medal in the individual keirin at the 2016 Summer Olympics

In fact, he is the first Malaysian cyclist to win a medal at the Summer Olympics.
