The government has given those in areas under the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) and Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) the green light to carry out tourism activities in their respective districts
Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced the ruling during a live address on Thursday, 18 February.
He said that states under RMCO and CMCO are allowed to resume tourism, culture, and arts activities.

In a post uploaded on the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture’s (MOTAC) Facebook page, Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri was quoted saying, “I implore the public to start tourism activities in your respective areas and travel safely, always abide with standard operating procedures (SOPs) enforced by the government, and observe new norm practices.”

Attractions such as nature parks, museums, and outdoor theme parks are allowed to welcome visitors and audiences.
However, strict SOPs have been put in place.
According to The Star, Ismail Sabri said that attractions in states under the CMCO can only accommodate visitors up to 50% of the usual capacity while tourist and cultural attractions in RMCO areas can have more visitors as long as physical distancing is practised.
On 23 February, the minister further clarified that Putrajaya has never instructed hotels to close following the implementation of the movement control order (MCO), as reported by Malay Mail.
“We have never instructed hotels to close, no matter what MCO they are currently under. If there are hotels that are totally closed because of a lack of customers, that has nothing to do with us,” he said.
States and federal territories that are currently under CMCO include Kedah, Perak, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Pahang, Terengganu, Kelantan, Putrajaya, Labuan, Sabah, and Sarawak.
Meanwhile, Perlis is the only state currently under RMCO.
