Minister reminds Muslim community to always practise high integrity

Datuk Talib Zulpilip

BINTULU: The Muslim community must always practise high level of integrity, honesty and truthfulness, and reject corruption in order to bring about development and be respected by other communities.

Regardless of the position they hold in society, they should always make integrity their practice, Minister in Chief Minister’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Talib Zulpilip had said.

According to the Jepak assemblyman, integrity includes honesty and truthfulness.

“All these should be the culture among Muslims.

“We would be respected if we have high integrity. If we’re corrupt, people would not respect us – even our lives would be a mess,” he said when officiating at a talk on integrity at Masjid At-Taqwa RPR Sebiew on Saturday night, run in conjunction with Maulidur Rasul 1442 Hijrah programme themed ‘Integriti Rasulullah SAW Teladan Sepanjang Zaman’.

According to Talib, no matter what people’s roles are in society, if they have high integrity, their community would move towards greater excellence.

He then praised the efforts and collaboration run between the Sarawak Islamic Council and mosques in Bintulu Division, with the Sarawak Integrity and Ombudsman Unit (Union) towards cultivating the culture
of integrity at various levels in Sarawak.

He also pointed out that the Sarawak Cabinet leaders and Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg practised high integrity, and they had jointly signed the corruption-free pledge; thus giving confidence to the people.

Talib also commended the effort to reject corruption, believing that the right leaders would be able to guide the state administration as well as the grassroots through the right path.

The talk on Saturday was conducted by Sarawak Mufti Datu Kipli Yassin. Also present were Union director Adana Jed, Sarawak Islamic Affairs Department (Jais) Bintulu officer Dzulhazri Japar Shedik, mosque committee chairman Abang Arshad Abang Anuar and Temenggong Rosli Kamaruddin.
