KUCHING (June 12): Matu district reverted to a Covid-19 yellow zone from orange zone after recording only 12 new cases in the past two weeks, said the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).
“This brings the number of yellow zones in the state to nine and orange zones to two. Red zones remain unchanged with 29 and there is still no green zone,” said SDMC in a statement today.
The other yellow zones are Pusa, Julau, Saratok, Belaga, Lawas, Daro, Tebedu and Limbang with a total of 97 cases. The orange zones are Simunjan and Lundu with a total of 54 cases.
The red zones are Telang Usan, Song, Sebauh, Kabong, Dalat, Bau, Marudi, Meradong, Lubok Antu, Beluru, Asajaya, Tanjung Manis, Tatau, Bukit Mabong, Betong, Sri Aman, Pakan, Kanowit, Selangau, Subis, Mukah, Sarikei, Samarahan, Serian, Kuching, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri and Sibu which recorded a total of 8,397 cases.
The Health Ministry categorises a district with no Covid-19 cases as a green zone, and over a two-week period, with one to 20 local transmission cases as yellow, 21 to 40 as orange and 41 and more as red.
Meanwhile, the police have issued 45 compounds for violating standard operating procedures, with the highest issued in Kuching with 23, followed by Bintulu (10), Sarikei (5), Sibu (2), Miri (2), Lawas (2) and Kapit (1).
Topping the list of offences was being in public places over the allowed time without any valid reason (20), followed by congregating and no physical distancing in public places (5), ferrying of passengers over the allowed limit (4), not wearing face mask (4), not scanning MySejahtera (4), fishing in public places (2), being in premises not allowed to operate during MCO (Gym) [2], not adhering to monitoring order for Covid-19 close contact (2), exiting quarantine and removing bracelet without permission (1) and inter-district travel without permission (1).
“The total number of compounds issued since the Movement Control Order was implemented in March 18, 2020 to-date was 7,626,” said SDMC.
Similarly, the Local Government and Housing Ministry also issued a total of 11 compounds, Bintulu Development Authority (4), Sibu Rural District Council (2), Samarahan Municipal Council (1), Lundu District Council (1), Sri Aman District Council (1), Meradong and Julau District Council (1) and Miri City Council (1).
The offences were not updating attendance book or incomplete book (9), operating overtime (1) and exceeding vehicle capacity (1).
This brings the total number of compounds issued since Feb 1 to-date to 1,003.
