Post-midnight, 18 July, Kuala Lumpur Criminal Investigations Department raided the 36th floor of a luxury residence in Jalan Pudu to cut short a birthday party that was organised by a man for his wife

The raid was carried out after the department received a tip-off.

A total of 28 individuals, comprising 16 men and 12 women, were arrested at the party.

According to Kuala Lumpur Criminal Investigations Department deputy ACP Nasri Mansor, among those detained during the raid at about 12.50am on Sunday were all of legal age, between 27 to 63 years old.

While the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) at major locations in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor have not been extended, both the states remain under Phase 1 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP).

As such large gatherings and private parties are prohibited to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Of the 28, seven men and four women tested positive for drugs

“Police found ketamine believed to be consumed by some of the guests invited by the husband and friends to the wife. “One of the rooms was turned into dance studio equipped with disco light,” Nasri said, adding that they also found condoms during the raid, believed to be used by those present during the party.

The unit was rented for RM300 per night, according to Nasri

Partygoers were celebrating the birthday of one of the suspects. They communicated via WhatsApp. The unit has three rooms,” he said, adding that police will issue compound notices to everyone involved.

Meanwhile, all those arrested at the party were slapped with compounds.

They were issued under Section 22 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988, Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act, Section 12(2), and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
