SIBU (June 23): A 34-year-old man was found dead in his double-storey semi detached house at Jalan Oya Lama here yesterday.
Sibu police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the deceased, identified as Lau Pau Zew, was found unconscious by his mother in one of the rooms in his house.
“Yesterday, the deceased’s son called his grandmother (deceased’s mother) at 3.45pm asking her to fetch him at the house.
“When she arrived at 4.15pm, she went upstairs to look for the deceased and found him unconscious in one of the rooms.
“She immediately contacted the ambulance. The deceased was pronounced dead at 4.30pm by a medical officer who attended to the case,” he said in a statement today.
The body of the deceased was later taken to Sibu Hospital mortuary for further action and Covid-19 test.
Stanley said they were informed by a medical personnel from the Sibu Hospital on the incident at 5.35pm.
He said the deceased was staying at the house with his grandmother and seven-year-old son.
His grandmother went to Sarikei on June 21, he added.
Stanley said their early investigations did not find injuries on the deceased body and his personal belongings were still in the house.
Therefore, police have ruled out any foul play in the case and classified the case as sudden death.
