KUCHING (June 19): The State Health Department has declared three new Covid-19 community clusters today, including one longhouse placed under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) dubbed the Sungai Banun Cluster in Meradong.
This community cluster involved a longhouse at Skim B, Sungai Banun, Meradong, and it spread through social interaction and close contact amongst the longhouse residents.
“A total of 46 people were screened, with 20 testing positive, 64 negative and two awaiting lab results,” said the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today.
All those who tested positive were admitted to the Sarikei Hospital and Sarikei district Miri quarantine and low-risk patients treatment centre (PKRC).
The second cluster dubbed the Tebakang Dayak Cluster involves a settlement at Ntagen Asai Zone area, Kampung Tebakang Dayak in Serian. A total of 95 individuals were screened with 18 testing positive, 52 negative and 25 awaiting lab results.
All those who tested positive were admitted to the Serian PKRC.
The third cluster dubbed the Mongkos 2 Cluster, is the second cluster in the same locality. The first cluster was declared ended on June 14 with 56 positive cases.
“This second cluster also stemmed from social movement which then spread amongst family members. A total of 70 individuals were screened with 22 testing positive, 34 negative and 14 awaiting lab results.”
All those who tested positive were admitted to the Sarawak General Hospital and Serian district PKRC.
At the same time, SDMC also announced the end of Nanga Tajam Cluster in Selangau after no new positive cases were recorded in the last 28 days.
Meanwhile, the state has 95 active clusters, with 15 continuing to report 141 new Covid-19 cases today.
Topping the list was the Sungai Sentebu Cluster in Sarikei (68), followed by Muara Tabuan Cluster in Kuching (18), Sungai Banun Cluster in Meradong (17), Kampung Sebandi Hilir Cluster in Lundu (7), Gran Stumbin Cluster in Sri Aman (7), Tebakang Dayak Cluster in Serian (5), Putai Cluster in Bukit Mabong (4), Skim B Cluster in Meradong (4), Kampung Serikin Cluster in Bau (3),Sungai Durin Cluster in Sibu (2), Jalan Tanjung Kidurong 3 Cluster in Bintulu (2), Sungai Selangan Cluster in Sarikei (1), Banting Cluster in Sri Aman (1), Sawai Niah Cluster in Subis (1) and Mongkos 2 Cluster in Serian (1).
