Kepayan prison and four other areas under EMCO

KOTA KINABALU: Kepayan prison in Kota Kinabalu is one of the five areas in Sabah to be placed under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) from June 28 until July 11.

The decision was made after 18 Covid-19 cases were detected in the prison, senior minister for security Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced in a statement on Saturday.

The other four localities under EMCO are the Bell palm oil factory and workers’ quarters in Kinabatangan (29 cases), Kampung Tuunon in Penampang (eight cases), Kampung Perpaduan Ria 1 in Kudat (nine cases) and Kampung Jawi-Jawi in Kota Belud (12 cases).

Ismail Sabri also said the EMCO at Kampung Tawadakan and Kampung Kota Bungan in Kota Belud would be extended until July 11.

However, the EMCO at Kampung Indah in Nabawan, Kampung Manggis in Kuala Penyu, Kampung Baru (SFI) in Sipitang, Taman Kinabutan Ria and Simpang Inderasabah in Tawau, and Kampung Sundang Laut in Sandakan will end at 11.59pm June 27.
