A passer-by noticed smoke from the shoplot and called the relevant authorities

Perak Zone 1 Fire and Rescue chief Nor Rasidamayati told Bernama that 12 firemen from the Kampar Fire and Rescue Station were dispatched to the scene after receiving the call.

The fire was extinguished within three minutes and severely burnt bodies were found on a bed.

Kampar district police chief Supt Hasron Nazri Hisham said that a gas cylinder was found behind a wardrobe.

“Besides that, there were also traces of petroleum on the walls of the room,” he added.

Authorities have classified her death as suicide

Hasron told New Straits Times that the victim was suffering from depression due to family and marital issues.

Initial investigations revealed that the woman and her two children had been staying in the room after being separated from her husband.

“She was in a depressed state for the last two weeks. She told her friend that if she died one day, please arrange her funeral and don’t let her family interfere,” Hasron said.

The bodies were sent to the Kampar Hospital Forensic Unit for post-mortem examination.
