KUCHING (July 23): All the Village Security and Development Committees (JKKK) state-wide are obligated to report any planned funerals at private residences in villages and longhouses to the nearest police station or district office effective tomorrow, said the Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) today.
Unifor announced this in the latest standard operating procedures (SOP) under Phase 2 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP).
All funerals and wakes are to be attended by close family members only with only 30 individuals at any one time, depending on the capacity of the venue while and must maintain physical distancing of one metre.
The ceremony to be held at the cemeteries is also limited to a maximum of 30 individuals including close family members.
Children ages 12 and below, individuals who have not been vaccinated and high-risk groups are not encouraged to attend the funerals.
Those who show Covid-19 symptoms such as fever, cough and with body temperature exceeding 37.5 °C are prohibited from attending any funerals.
During the funerals, individuals must not share tableware such as plates, bowls, spoons and forks. Packed food is recommended.
Activities such as ‘holo’ and ‘daun terup’ are not allowed.
The JKKK should also come up with MySejahtera QR code or attendance logbook for individuals attending the funerals, and ensure they comply with the SOP.
There must only be one entry and one exit and signs must be provided.
All individuals must have their body temperature taken and wear face masks and sanitise their hands. They must also avoid close contact.
