Gardenia Bakeries Will Increase Price Of Selected Products From 1 December

Gardenia Bakeries (GBKL) is increasing the prices of several products effective from 1 December 2020

In a press statement made available to SAYS, the company said it is implementing a price revision on selected products due to an increase of material cost over the years.

“Over the past few years, GBKL has been facing tremendous increases in manufacturing and material costs which are beyond our control,” the statement read.

“Following years of absorbing the said increases, GBKL has now no alternative except to implement a price revision on selected Gardenia products effective 1 December 2020.”

GBKL said the price revision has to be made due to the increase in price of ingredients such as vegetable shortening, cocoa powder, milk, and packaging

According to the statement, the price of Gardenia buns will be increased by 5 sen, from RM1.05 to RM1.10, including Squiggles, Delicia Soft Roll Butter Toffee, Delicia Sambal Bilis, and Gardenia Fluffy Red Beans.

Meanwhile, some Gardenia loaves will see a 20 sen increase, from RM4.50 to RM4.70, including the Toast’em Butter Raisin loaf and the Delicia Butterscotch, Choco Raisin, and Raspberry Milk & Cranberries flavours.

Gardenia Bakeries said the prices of other Gardenia products will remain unchanged.
