Four deaths, 248 new cases in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: Four deaths and 248 new Covid-19 cases were reported by the Health Department in Sabah on Thursday.

Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said the death cases were in Tawau (two), Kunak (one) and Kota Kinabalu (one).

“No new clusters recorded today, however, Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) in two localities were extended to July 2, namely, Semarak Tawau and Kampung Pengaraban Kudat.

“Meanwhile, EMCO was lifted in Kampung Tanjung Aru Baru and Rumah Murah Kepayan here, and three localities in Tawau namely Taman Milenium, Taman Wawasan and Kampung Jawa Kongsi 10,” he said.

In his daily statement on Thursday, Masidi also revealed that 160 roadblocks were set up throughout the state in the past 24 hours involving 79,649 vehicle checks.

A total of 681 motorists were ordered to turn back and two arrests were made.

The authorities also issued 69 compounds for various offences namely not wearing face mask (13), operating business without permit (two), no social distancing (one), overloading passengers (18), going out with no reason (three) and premises owners failed to prepare MySejahtera QR code and check-in record (32).
