Fatimah: Dalat District has completed vaccination programme

DALAT (July 10): Dalat District has completed its outreach vaccination programme with the last station at Nanga Baoh yesterday.

Minister of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah said a total of 186 people from 10 longhouses in Nanga Baoh had registered for the vaccination.

She said two outreach teams were deployed for the mission, which comprised 10 health workers and six volunteers to make the programme a success.

She said the first team was stationed at a health clinic and the other went to four longhouses to register 71 individuals including the bedridden individuals.

Fatimah, who is also Dalat assemblywoman, said the journey to Nanga Baoh from Dalat would take about two hours by river using 200hp boat.

Nanga Baoh can also be reached by road which is about one-and-a-half-hour drive from Dalat.

On the vaccination programme in Dalat District, she said as of July 8, a total of 9,993 people had received their first dose while 3,242 people had received their second dose.

She said the people of Nanga Baoh, Narub and Klid enjoy clean water supply through Sarawak Alternative Water Supply (Sawas).
The RM16.7 million water supply project for Nanga Baoh benefits 10 longhouses, a health clinic and a primary school.

The project started on Feb 26, 2019, and was completed on March 5, 2020.
