A family has started a charity kiosk in Kuala Lumpur to help fellow Malaysians in need during this difficult time
Twitter user Nur Hasha took to social media to share about the kiosk recently opened by her mother that gives away food essentials to the needy.
“My mum has just opened a charity kiosk in honour of her parents. If anyone you know is staying around Keramat or Kampung Baru and is in need of essentials, do drop by,” she tweeted.

The kiosk, which is called Pondok Sedekah Omar Zabedah (Omar Zabedah Charity Kiosk), is named after Hasha’s grandparents
“My mum started this pondok as her late father was also a generous and family-loving person. He would even clear twigs on pathways so that others can walk safely,” Hasha said.
Speaking to SAYS, the university student said her mother started the cause because she realised many people had lost their source of income during the pandemic.
“My mum was interviewing potential new staff [for the family business] and she heard many of them were laid off,” she said.
“Some people were fired and some were even willing to do any job even though they sat in a nice office before, as they have kids to feed.”
Hasha’s Tweet garnered over 14,000 retweets since it was posted, with netizens praising her family for the caring initiative

She added that those interested in making a contribution can donate cash or items directly to the kiosk or by messaging her on Twitter
She told SAYS that her mother is at the kiosk every day because her office is next to it, and that they would love to hear if their contributors were donating in honour of someone else.
The kiosk is providing food staples such as rice, flour, sugar, salt, soya sauce, and more.
