Covid-19 patient who fled from SGH detained by police in Satok

KUCHING (June 13): A Covid-19 patient who fled from the Sarawak General Hospital’s (SGH) male ward has been detained by the police at a village in Jalan Patinggi Ali, Satok around 1.55pm today.

Kuching district police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah who confirmed the incident, said the patient was found missing by an SGH nurse at around 9.30am this morning.

“The patient was later handed over to Ministry of Health personnel for further action,” said Ahsmon when contacted.

He said upon receiving a report on the incident, a special team of police from different police stations was immediately formed to track down the patient.

“We have also received information on the patient to narrow down our search,” he added.

Police have classified the case under Section 269 of the Penal Code and Section 22(b) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988.

It was also revealed that the patient is a 28-year-old from Asajaya.
