KOTA KINABALU: Seven localities in Sabah will be placed under a two-week Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO).
They are Kampung Sungai Imam (Tawau), Kampung Lembising and Kampung Dumpil Keramat (Putatan), One Borneo Condominium (Kota Kinabalu), Kampung Balibata (Beaufort), Kampung Pintasan (Kota Belud) and Kampung Istimewa (Sandakan).
State Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said the EMCO starting from July 9, was announced with the advice from the Ministry of Health (MOH) as announced by the federal government.
“The MOH has recorded 12 cases in Kampung Balibata, Beaufort after 25 samples were screened.
“Meanwhile in Kampung Pintasan, 11 cases were recorded after 34 individuals were screened with 32.35 per cent positivity,” he added.
In One Borneo Condominium, it was reported that 31 positive cases were recorded after 132 samples were screened following a new cluster recorded in the area on Tuesday.
In Kampung Istimewa Batu Sapi, Sandakan, a total of 238 tests were conducted and 25 positive cases were recorded with 10.5 per cent positivity.
Meanwhile in Putatan, the two villages recorded 27 Covid-19 cases in total, with 17 in Kampung Lembising and 10 in Kampung Dumpil Keramat.
In Kampung Sungai Imam, Tawau, 11 individuals tested positive with high infectivity rate.
EMCO in all the seven localities are expected to end by July 22.
Meanwhile, the Health Ministry has ordered 1 Borneo Hypermall to be closed from July 7 to July 20 for sanitisation.
A new cluster has been identified at Bataras Hypermarket in 1Borneo Hypermall.
