CMCO in Sabah extended to Dec 31

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun announced here today the extension of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) throughout Sabah.

“As of December 17, a total of 33,823 positive Covid-19 have been recorded throughout Sabah,” said Masidi, also Local Government and Housing cum Finance Minister II.

“Within 14 days (December 2 to 15), MOH (Ministry of Health) confirmed that the number of daily Covid-19 cases throughout the state is still high and most of the clusters are from residential clusters involving citizens.

“MOH also expects the positive Covid-19 cases to continue increasing following the screening of non-citizen workers, which just started on December 16.

“However, thus far, MOH has confirmed that the number of active cases in these two localities showed a decreased and controlled trend.

“On the advice of MOH, the government had agreed that CMCO throughout Sabah be extended from December 21 to 31.”

Masidi also said the state government had agreed to loosen the opening of tourism and culture sectors, such as Meetings, Incentive, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE), and tourism products such as zoos, farms, extreme sports, recreational park, and aquariums, art, culture and heritage exhibition, theme park and family entertainment center, indoor playground, in CMCO areas effective December 19 (tomorrow).

“However, the total attendence or visitors for relaxed sectors is subject to 50% of the area of the premises with physical distancing. For the stage performances sector, it is allowed but without the presence of an audience,” he said.

Masidi said the government also agreed by principle to allow the opening of sports and recreation sector including water sports in phases

“In this regard, the government has agreed to allow the opening of the sports and recreation sector effective January 2021,” he said.

“For activity sports and individual and team recreational category for the purpose of training, games and matches (indoor and outdoor) activities without spectators are allowed.

“The user capacity of each premises involved should not exceed 50% of the total capacity of the premises. Mass activities and sports events and competitions in the presence of spectators are not allowed,” he added.

However, he stressed no sports and recreation activities are allowed in Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) areas.
