Recently, several students in a Kedah village had to sit by the river to attend their online classes due to poor Internet connectivity

According to a report in Sinar Harian over the week, the children in Kampung Setol, Yan, Kedah had to search for better connection outside their house for the home-based teaching and learning method (PdPR).

A 52-year-old mother was reported by the Malay daily that her 12-year-old daughter, Aina Safia Zahari, and her friends went to the river to find an Internet connection that allowed them to submit their assignments.

The mother, Sabariah Saad, who is also a teacher, said that she, too, faced the same problem while conducting PdPR even though she has changed her Internet service lines several times.

A Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) student faced the same issue

According to Sabariah, the same issue was also faced by another of her children who is a UiTM student.

She had to stay at a friend’s house to complete the assignment given by her lecturer.

The village residents also complained about facing issues with their telephone line connection, especially during emergency situations

Sinar Harian reported that residents have since requested relevant authorities to pay close attention.

The residents claimed that while their village is located not far from the popular resort location, Titi Hayun, and is at the foot of Gunung Jerai which is the focus of tourists, they still fail to enjoy Internet facilities.
