KOTA KINABALU: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin has called on the Village Development and Security Committee (JPKK) to set up specific profiles for each of the villages in Sabah.
The Lamag assemblyman said that his constituency is particularly in need of a profile.
He said the call is not something new and pointed out that the JPKK’s failure to update the necessary details from time to time would prevent the government from channelling assistance to the villagers.
Bung added that the profiles would also be useful to the elected representatives, Community Welfare Department, Baitulmal and the non-governmental organisations.
“As of now, my call has been well received by the JPKK in the Lamag constituency. This proposal will be expanded in the Kinabatangan parliamentary constituency,” said Bung in a statement on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Lamag Community Development Leader Abu Bakar Gapar said that 19 out of the 24 villages in Lamag had successfully set up their profiles.
He submitted the profiles to Kinabatangan Assistant District Officer Halidun Salleh on Thursday.
“I hope that the other villages would be able to submit their profiles to the district office and UPPM office as soon as possible,” said Abu Bakar.
