BINTULU (June 9): Bintulu Hospital and the Health Department have received donations of medical equipment worth nearly RM1 million.

Bintulu MP Dato Sri Tiong King Sing listed the equipment as 25 GE Carescape V100 Dinamap vital signs monitors with trolleys, 15 Perfusor compact plus syringe pumps, 10 medical patient transfer beds, five patient monitors, 5 12.1” touchscreen monitors, five portable audio systems, and five projectors.

“Through the Bintulu MP Service Centre, we are humbled to have received enthusiastic commitment to help the anti-pandemic effort with donations from all walks of life to buy medical equipment,” he said in a statement.

Tiong said the ageing medical equipment in the hospital and clinics here has been overwhelmed by the large number of patients, as the Covid-19 situation in Bintulu has not shown signs of dissipating.

He thanked all contributors especially Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia (Huazong) secretary-general Datuk Dr Wong Aik Loung, who contacted various industries, business owners, and industry captains to help Bintulu.

“We have yet to raise all of the funds needed for the necessary equipment, the price of the equipment is indeed quite significant.

“Nevertheless, we are confident that we will be able to raise the remainder of the funds,” said Tiong.

He also thanked the supplier who was willing to ship the equipment urgently to Bintulu before full payment was made.

He said this indeed displayed genuine support to help Bintulu get through the pandemic.
