Miri Orthodox Buddhist Association welcomes those in need to its newly open food bank

Essential food items available at the Miri Orthodox Buddhist Association.

MIRI (July 3): Miri Orthodox Buddhist Association has set up a food bank starting today to July 10, offering essential food items to help those who are in need.

The association’s chairman Master Shyh Sheng Lin said the food bank will be available for a week, offering rice, bread, instant noodles and eggs among others, to be place on table at corridor of the association’s premise at Bulatan Commercial Centre.

“Our intention of setting up the food bank is to upholding the spirit of Bodhisattva which one of the way to achieve enlightenment (rebirth and suffering) is by helping others.

“The food items is given based on first come, first serve basis, regardless of races and religions. Hence, we welcome anyone who may need a little help to at least fill up their stomach with food,” said Shyh.

The food bank will be open from 9am daily while items are available.

The association’s premise is located at Lot 2299, Bulatan Commercial Centre, Piasau, 98000 Miri, Sarawak.
