KOTA KINABALU: An argument between an engaged couple resulted in the death of a family member.
The incident reportedly occurred on December 19 at 11.15pm, at an unnumbered house in Kampung Kuyuh, Pitas.
The suspect, who was the fiancé of one of the victims, purportedly asked her to go with him to his hometown in Paitan.
However, the victim refused. The suspect was then believed to have slashed the victim and her family with a machete. This resulted in the injury of four victims.
Kota Marudu police chief Supt Mohd Izaan Abdullah said the 29-year-old suspect was currently being tracked by police.
Meanwhile, the victims suffered varying degrees of injury and were currently seeking treatment. The deceased was a 68-year-old woman.
The case is undergoing investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
