KUCHING (June 19): The Kozi Square vaccination centre (PPV) here has recorded a total of 5,580 individuals receiving their Covid-19 vaccines there since it was opened last Saturday (June 12).

This was revealed by the PPV manager Dr Dayangku Siti Rafizah in a statement today.

“On the first three days of operation, we only received 500 individuals a day, of which it increased to 1,800 people a day, with the maximum number that can be reached is at 2,000 people,” she said.

Dr Rafidah said the Kozi Square PPV currently focuses on vaccinating frontliners, patients requiring follow-up treatments especially those referred from private and specialist hospitals well as groups from the community referred by the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

She added that this would be expanded to cover all community groups in an effort to achieve 80 percent of the Malaysian population receiving the vaccine before the year’s end.

The Kozi Square PPV has about 70 staff members consisting of healthcare workers from the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), the centre’s operating hours are from 8am to 6pm.

In the statement, it was stated that more than 1 million Sarawak residents have registered to receive the vaccine as at June 17.

“A total of 1,405,883 Sarawak residents have registered, with 484,869 have received the vaccines,” the statement said.
