Cigarettes and beers worth RM4.5 million were seized from 10 containers at Kampung Limbanak in Penampang.
PENAMPANG: The General Operation Force (GOF) have seized 10 containers of smuggled cigarettes and beers worth RM4.5 million during a raid at Kampung Limbanak, here recently.
GOF commander ACP Mohd Abduh Ismail said the operation, dubbed Ops Kontraban, was carried out following a tip-off of suspicious smuggling activity in the area.
“Four men, including two foreigners aged 22 and 34, were detained following the raid,” he said.
Mohd Abduh said the suspects were handed to the Penampang police for investigation, while the seized items were handed to the Kota Kinabalu police for further action.
The case will be investigated under Section 135(1) of the Customs Act and Section 55B of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
