MARUDI (June 23): Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) Mulu supports the evidence-based Covid-19 risk management guide announced by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
PSB Mulu pro tem chairman Prof Dr Son Radu said Muhyiddin’s recent announcement of the four-phase National Recovery Plan (NRP) provides a clear framework to reduce uncertainties for the better management of one’s livelihood, business planning, and activities.
With the NPR in place, “communications to guide decisions is a priority so that people will be able to make more educated decisions that hopefully will be better for everyone,” he said in a statement.
However, Son pointed out the constantly changing message and lack of coordination between stakeholders could erode the public’s trust.
He said all Malaysians are really trying their best to see the end of the pandemic for economic, educational, social, and political recovery.
“Many times people want to be calmed or they want to know what to do. The relevant agencies need to be clear and tell the public what they should be doing but in a way that’s consistent with what’s happening,” he said.
According to Son, in many cases, the people know what the right things are to do and it is important to acknowledge that.
He pointed out that fighting to stop the spread of Covid-19 would allow life to return to normal.
“To reclaim much of our treasured freedoms will hinge on immunisation and the public adhering strictly to the SOPs (standard operating procedures) through guided decisions based on data and science,” he added.
