IPOH: PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has arrived at Istana Kinta for an audience with Sultan Nazrin Shah.
The vehicle carrying the Marang MP arrived at the palace at 10.50am, with his appearance before the Ruler scheduled for 11am. Hadi left the palace at 11.39am, waving to reporters but without speaking to anyone.
It is understood that PAS headquarters will come out with an official statement later.
Hadi had previously sought an audience with Sultan Nazrin to inform the ruler of the “political situation involving PAS” after a furore that arose when its three assemblymen ignored a summons to the palace.
The assemblymen had been instructed to cancel their meeting at the palace during the Perak menteri besar crisis, although they had been summoned by the sultan.
Perak PAS and the three assemblymen later sent an official apology to the palace for failing to appear for the audience.
State PAS chief Razman Zakaria explained that the assemblymen did not appear before the sultan because of an order from the party’s central leadership, which wanted to wait before deciding on its support for the Umno candidate for menteri besar.
