31 pct of eligible Sibu Division folk given at least first Covid-19 dose as of June 16

SIBU (June 18): A total of 72,250 out of the targeted 232,528 individuals in Sibu Division have been administered with at least the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine as of June 16, said Sibu Divisional Disaster Management Committee (SDDMC) coordinator Dr Annuar Rapaee.

Citing Health Department data, he said from that number, 45,472 individuals had received their first dose, while 26,778 had completed both doses.

“As of June 16, a total of 72,250 individuals in Sibu Division have been vaccinated with at least first dose of vaccine, of which 55,203 individuals are in Sibu District, while Selangau and Kanowit have 7,850 and 9,197 individuals respectively,” the Assistant Minister of Local Government and Housing told The Borneo Post today.

For Sibu District, 33,740 have received their first dose of vaccine while 21,463 have completed both doses.

In Selangau District, 5,484 individuals have been administered with the first dose and 2,366 have been fully inoculated.

As for Kanowit District, 6,248 have been given the first dose and 2,949 who have completed both doses.

Dr Annuar said he is happy to note the division’s higher daily vaccination rate for June, which has surpassed the daily target.

“Take June 16 for instance, the total daily vaccinations numbered 5,014 against the daily target of 4,776 (for Sibu Division),” he said.

Sibu District recorded 85 new Covid-19 cases yesterday.

From that number, 56 cases came under the Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) area, while 29 cases were from the Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) area.
