KOTA KINABALU: Two localities in Sabah will be placed under a 14-day Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) starting July 4 namely Taman Zifa, Bingkul in Beaufort and Kampung Simpangan, Kota Marudu.
Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said that the Ministry of Health (MOH) on Saturday reported 21 positive cases of Covid-19 were recorded in Taman Zifa after 50 individuals had their samples taken for screening.
“After a risk assessment conducted with various agencies in the MCO technical committee and on the advice of the MOH, the EMCO at the locality will be enforced according to the decision made by the federal government.
“The implementation of this EMCO is to restrict the movement and spread of Covid-19 infection from areas at risk out of the locality,” he said.
In Kampung Simpangan, 64 samples were taken for screening and 10 of them tested positive with high infectiousness.
Meanwhile, the MOH has lifted the EMCO in four localities after the case trend has declined and there are no more test samples awaiting results, namely Kampung Nelayan Batu 10 Sandakan, Phase 1 and Phase 2 Taman Digot Penampang and Kampung Rancangan Silabukan Peringkat 4 Lahad Datu.
