KOTA KINABALU: Two areas in Sabah will be under an enhanced movement control order (EMCO) from July 6 to 19 after recording an increased in Covid-19 cases.
They are Kampung Jambatan Baru in Beaufort and Block 6, Kampung Titingan in Tawau.
Senior minister for security Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said 17 people tested positive in Kampung Jambatan Baru from the 20 tests conducted. This is a positivity rate of 85%, necessitating the EMCO.
Tests conducted among residents of Block 6, Kampung Titingan found that nine of the 17 screened were positive, with a positivity rate of 52.94%.
Ismail Sabri also disclosed in a statement on Sunday that the EMCO at Kampung Jaya Baru, Kunak, and Kampung Serudung Baru, Tawau, have been extended until July 19.
The lockdown at Ladang Brumas in Kalabakan, Kampung Pulutan in Nabawan and Taman Wijaya Park in Kota Kinabalu will end July 5 after a risk assessment was conducted by the Health Ministry.
