KUCHING (July 7): The Sarawak Health Department has declared two new Covid-19 clusters today, dubbed the Jalan Tasik Biru By-Pass Cluster in Bau and Sungai Bedil Besar Cluster in Kuching.
“The Jalan Tasik Biru By-Pass Cluster in Bau is a workplace cluster involving a food court construction site workers. A total of 26 people screened with 19 tested positive and seven negative.
“However, 13 of the 19 positive cases were foreign workers,” said the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today.
All those who tested positive were admitted to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and Kuching district quarantine and low-risk patients treatment centre (PKRC).
The Sungai Bedil Besar Cluster in Kuching is a community cluster involving several families at Kampung Sungai Bedil Besar. A total of 94 residents screened, with 31 tested positive and 63 negative.
All those who tested positive were admitted to the SGH and Kuching district PKRC.
At the same time, SDMC also announced the end of Jalan Kampung Yoh Cluster in Bintulu as it not record any new positive cases in the last 28 days.
Meanwhile, the state has 97 active clusters, with nine continued to report 50 new Covid-19 cases today.
On top of the list was the Kampung Siol Kandis Lorong 3 Cluster in Kuching (24), Jalan Tanjung Kidurong 3 Cluster in Bintulu (9), KM85 Cluster in Mukah (5), Nanga Tada Cluster in Kanowit (4), Po Ai Cluster in Sri Aman (3), Sungai Pelepak Cluster in Meradong (2), Kampung Serikin Cluster in Bau (1), Nyelutong Cluster in Betong (1) and Sungai Bedil Besar Cluster in Kuching (1).
