PETALING JAYA: The prime minister announced tonight that the late Rahah Mohamed Noah, wife of Malaysia’s second prime minister Abdul Razak Hussein, who passed away earlier today will be accorded a state funeral tomorrow.
Muhyiddin Yassin said Rahah, who is the mother of the country’s sixth prime minister, Najib Razak, will be buried at the National Mosque tomorrow.
Muhyiddin also offered condolences to Najib and his family on behalf of the Malaysian government and people.
The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, and the Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, expressed their condolences to Rahah’s family.
Rahah, who had been ill for some time, died in hospital this evening at the age of 87.
Rahah, 87, married Abdul Razak in September 1952 and they had five sons: Najib, Mohamed Nazir, Ahmad Johari, Mohamed Nizam and Mohamed Nazim.
Condolences from politicians began to pour in after Najib announced her death at about 5.20pm. Among them were Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, PKR president Anwar Ibrahim, DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang and party secretary-general Lim Guan Eng.
