BINTULU (June 19): More equipment to fight Covid-19 have arrived here to boost the healthcare system and safeguard more lives against the virus in the division.

Bintulu MP Dato Sri Tiong King Sing said a fundraising campaign initiated by the Bintulu MP Service Centre is helping to fight the pandemic by raising fund to buy equipment and medical supplies for the hospital and clinics.

“The medical equipment have arrived and were handed over to the Health Department here Thursday,” he said, adding that with the opening of more vaccination centres, the rate of inoculation here would go up significantly.

He said they have so far delivered 15 units of RCW-25, 15 RCW-8, and 25 units of RCW-4 type vaccine transporter containers (vaccine chillers), 5 Medcaptain MP-60 infusion pumps, 6 units of 13-litre transport boxes, 2 units of the 22-litre versions, and 2 units of EMW+ 731 Series ventilators to the department.

He said although the pandemic here could not be said to be back to ‘going down’, and not all the necessary funds for the medical equipment had been raised yet, they still wanted to thank all the donors for their selfless contribution during this time.

“Your sacrifice will do much to help the frontline personnel. Through your assistance, we have also made long-term improvements to the medical care of our fellow Malaysians,” he said.

Credit must also go to the suppliers and relevant agencies for delivering the necessary materials to Bintulu in the shortest possible time, he added.
