SteelSeries recently announced that it has officially acquired KontrolFreek, a brand known for its gaming accessories and peripherals. The acquisition makes KontrolFreek its second-largest acquisition its purchase of A-Volute, owners and creators of Nahimic.
For the uninitiated, KontrolFreek is a brand renowned primarily for its Performance Thumbsticks and Precision Rings for game controllers for the Switch, PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. The latter’s DualSense being the latest addition to the list.
It also helps that KontrolFreek has a community totalling over four million gamers, which opens up yet another market for SteelSeries. Oh, and the company’s products have also been endorsed by prominent and professional esports players and content creators, including FaZe Clan, OpTic, and Ali-A, to name a few.
At the time of writing, neither SteelSeries nor KontrolFreek have disclosed how much the former had paid to acquire the latter. To that end, it is likely that we’ll be seeing KontrolFreek’s future products and lineups shipping out under the SteelSeries banner within the following months.
