Sony announced that it will be adding the Apple TV app to a select number of its Smart TVs. As a start, the app will first roll out to its X9000H Smart TV series in the form of a software update.
As for the other Smart TV models, Sony says that the app will be made available on select 2018 Smart TV models and other 2019 and 2020 models before the end of this year. However, the Japanese brand did not specify exactly which models in those ranges would receive the update.
As with all online streaming services, Apple TV is an app that gives its users access Apple TV channels, as well as Apple TV+, its subscription-based streaming service. Just like other popular streaming services such as Netflix, Apple TV+ features exclusive content and original content, including shows like Greyhound, The Morning Show, and See, among others.
Of course, if you’re not keen on keying in your Apple TV account details on the TV, the majority of Sony’s Smart TVs also support Apple’s AirPlay 2 and Homekit features. Enabling users to the ability to stream their favourite Apple TV content directly from their iPhone, iPad, or Mac to compatible Sony TVs.
