BAU (June 16): Police arrested six suspects during a raid on a call centre for online gambling and football bookie activities in Taman Senggi, Jalan Bau-Kuching yesterday (June 15).
Bau police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said the 5.15pm raid under Ops Soga involved personnel from the Sarawak police contingent Anti-Vice, Gambling and Gangsterism Unit (D7) and Bau Criminal Investigation Department.
“During the raid, it was found that six individuals including two women aged between 20 and 27 years old were inside the premises.
“All the suspects, including two Indonesian nationals, were arrested to assist in the investigation,” Poge said in a statement today.
The raiding team also seized computers, laptops, computer equipment, and mobile phones.
The case is being investigated under Section 6 (3) of the Betting Act 1953 and Section 4(1)(g) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.
“Meanwhile, the two Indonesian nationals arrested are also being investigated under the Immigration Act 1959/63,” added Poge.
