SIBU (July 2): Sibu Coffeeshop and Restaurant Owners Association deputy officer of general affair Hii Hiong Siu has urged coffeeshop owners and operators, and their workers in Sibujaya to get themselves registered for Covid-19 vaccination as soon as possible.

Hii said registration forms can obtained and submitted at Park City and Ah Ching Cafe.

“I have to thank Senator Robert Lau for this initiative and helping the coffeeshops operators to get registered for the vaccinations. It will start with Sibujaya first and then we will move to the town area.

“Some of them had been vaccinated, some already registered and there are still many who have not registered. So, those who have not registered, please register quickly,” he said when met today.

He said once the forms have been collected, it would be sent to the vaccination centre (PPV) at Sibujaya.

Hii also hoped that the government would consider allowing the coffeeshops in Sibujaya to have dine in customers as soon as possible once all operators and workers had been vaccinated.

“For coffeeshops, we highly depend on dine-in customers in our business. Take-away business is not sustainable at all,” he said.

Meanwhile, Senator Robert Lau said it is for the coffeeshop operators to act via their associations and appeal to allow for dine-in on the grounds that the operators and all their workers have been vaccinated with at least one dose.

He also said that coffeeshop operators and their workers would be put on the standby list as there have been a lot of empty slots due to many absence.
