KOTA KINABALU: The Ministry of Health (MOH) confirmed a spike of Covid-19 cases at seven localities in Sabah and will enforce the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) accordingly.
The EMCO will affect Kampung Mangga, Nasip Kita and Kampung Kijang, Balung in Tawau; Taman Jaya Diri in the state capital, Kampung Lingkodon, Kota Belud; Kampung Pintas Kubu, Beaufort; Kampung Muhibbah, Putatan and Kampung Goshen, Kota Marudu.
As of July 1, a total of nine cases were recorded in Kampung Mangga, Nasip Kita after 58 individuals were screened, while 15 out of 17 samples screened in Kampung Kijang, Balung tested positive.
In Taman Jaya Diri, 17 out of 27 contacts were positive, while Kampung Lingkodon, Kota Belud saw eight positive samples after 28 samples were screened.
In Kampung Pintas Kubu, Beaufort, a total of 26 samples were screened with nine confirmed positive. In Kampung Muhibah, 12 out of 17 individuals tested positive.
Another locality that will be placed under 14-day EMCO starting July 13 is Kampung Goshen, Kota Marudu after 19 positive cases were recorded from 57 samples screened by MOH.
The EMCO was announced to conduct targeted screening on all individuals involved and prevent the spread of Covid-19 to the outside community.
