KUCHING (June 29): The police have issued 55 compounds for various standard operating procedures (SOP) violations in Sarawak today, said State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in its daily update statement
The committee said 22 compounds were issued in Kuching, Serian (13), Bintulu (5), Kanowit (5), Kota Samarahan (5), Miri (2), Sibu (1), Bau (1) and Padawan (1).
Out of the total compounds, 19 were issued for fishing in public places and cock-fighting, not wearing face mask (8), being outside after 10pm without valid reasons (7), carrying passengers beyond the limit (7), ), inter-district travel without permit (5), failure to check-in via MySejahtera (4), failure to comply the maximum 30 percent workers’ attendance (2), and one each for exiting Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) areas without permission, operating without permission and flouting quarantine orders
Since March 18 last year, the committee said the police had issued 8,489 compounds.
On that note, SDMC added the local authorities under the Ministry of Local Government and Housing had issued four compounds for SOP violations over the same period of time – one each from Kota Samarahan Municipal Council, Sri Aman District Council, Miri City Council, and Sibu Rural District Council.
The violations were failure to update or incomplete record book and operating beyond the time limit.
The committee said the local authorities had issued a total of 1,190 compounds since Feb 1 this year.
