KUCHING (March 3): The Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) for Town Villa housing and certain Sibujaya Flat blocks in Sibu will end tomorrow, said State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.
He said for Blocks C, H, J, K, L, N and R, the EMCO period for these areas will be extended from March 5 to 11.
“To date, the Ministry of Health (MOH) has conducted screening on 6,818 residents which resulted in 277 Covid-19 positive cases involving these two localities.
“It also confirmed that the Townvilla housing and most of Sibujaya Flat blocks showed a declining trend.
“After conducting a risk assessment with various agencies in SDMC and under the advice of the Ministry, the committee has agreed to terminate the EMCO for Townvilla housing and Sibujaya Flat blocks on March 4 as scheduled,” the Deputy Chief Minister told a press conference today.
Previously, SDMC extended the EMCO for the two areas from Feb 26 to March 4.
Some 6,000 residents were first placed under EMCO from Feb 12 to 25 following the high number of Covid-19 cases there.
